Friendly staff. Great convenient location to get to the city. Delicious food and cocktails downstairs. Nice clean new bathroom and comfy bedding.

There is no one at check-in counter, no bell or no phone to catch the staff. We just needed to wait until someone notice.
If you don’t have enough staff, you should put something which I can reach to the staff.
Room was clean and nice tidy. Good point to having a choice of pillows.
But there is no door for the bathroom…..

En suite very small and no screen/door btwn the toilet and the bed. Nowhere to put anything in the en suite.

Booked because I wanted a non-chain hotel. The General Gordon packs a lot of charm and service into its walls. Sydenham train station is directly across the street, and it was a direct line to Circular Quay - just a great location. Quiet residential street otherwise. I would stay again and again if ever back in Sydney.
