Great location

Great location, friendly helpful staff, clean room, good microwave. Lots of cheap curry places downstairs, close to the MTR, ferry terminals, public park and mosque. Met some interesting characters in the queue to the lift. Don't think you could ask for more in a hotel.

A budget hostel.

The hostel is not that bad. When we say HOSTEL and BUDGET, do not expect too much.
This is my experience. When I arrived at Chungking mansion, i was having difficulty to search block E, i walked and searched around the building because there were A-E blocks in that building. When i found the Block E there were two lifts serving in that building, one is even numbers and one is odd numbers, but since the hostel is in 7th floor, so obviously you will have to take the lift that goes to odd numbers.
Secondly, when you arrived in your hostel for the first day, do not go directly to 7th floor, but instead go straight to 3rd floor because their reception is on the 3rd floor where you will check-in. And after you checked-in, you can go up directly to 7th floor where a woman will open the door for you.
Now about the room, do not expect anything, because you are on a budget hostel. The room is very small, in my opinion, i think it’s okay. I don’t complain anything about this hostel. And the place of this hostel on that floor is secured, you will need a card to enter the hostel (which they will provided to you, when you entered your room.) Overall, like what i said, i have nothing to complain about this hostel. If you will ask me if i will come back, maybe yes if i am on budget.

DO NOT STAY!!!

We arrived here to find tha nightmarish market (more like den of iniquity) on the ground floor with no directions as to where the lifts for the various blocks and many hostels were - also watch out for the lifts - one goes to odd and the other to even numbered floors. We eventually found the correct lift and arrived to find the reception desk closed with directions to go to a different floor. On arrival, we were informed that as we had not arrived in the morning, the manager had given our 2 night, pre-paid room to someone else (bear in mind our flight had not landed until the evening). We were then told we would be in another block for one night then to go back to reception where we would then be given the receptionists room for the second night. we told him we were not happy with that, he shrugged and said that we had paid a cheap price for the room (in other words, tough luck). After 5 minutes of telling him we would like the room we paid for, weasked for a refund, the reply was 'we don;t give refunds'. He eventually called the manager - we got our refund - I'm very stubborn lol. Luckily, we managed to book another hotel but, had to pay a lot more.

Crowded and distressful

The building is situated near some places of interest which makes it very crowded. There's only two lifts in which one only serves odd-numbered floors while the other serves even-numbered floors. It was unfortunate that the lift that we were supposed to use was usually out-of-service so we had to use the other then take the stairs. The queue was usually long and limited to about 8 persons so it is not advisable to bring a lot of stuff or baggage if you plan to stay here.

Rude Male receptionist but good hostel location

We booked two rooms from December 3-December 9,2017. We arrived to check in on early morning of December 4 around 4am, only to find out our rooms is not not available. The reason we booked the room from December 3, is for us to have the room ready and available for us to check in when we arrived on early morning of December. The male receptionist took us to one small room with two bunker beds, asked us to stay there temporarily and told us that our room will be ready at 12 in the afternoon. We booked for two rooms, each room with me single bed and one queen size bed. But the male receptionist seems to be pissed off when we arrived early morning, blaming us why we arrived that time. When we clearly include in our email we will be arriving early morning on December 4. The male receptionist promised a refund for the first night, for the reason that he failed to give us our two rooms which we paid in full thru online. The rooms are small but there is A/C and TV which has few English channels. The toilet is small also but good thing there is a heater. Location is good and there is nearby train station “Tsim Sha Tsui”, nearby grocery story “International, 7/11 and good restaurant I can recommend “Cafe de Coral” . The only disappointing thing I have experienced is how rude the male receptionist treated us. And bed sheets seems unchanged. But they do give new towels daily. Just make sure to keep your valuables locked in a safe place before you leave the room.
