Nice, simple, quiet place to stay in Dambula

I spent 2 nighs in Arelyia Self cooking resort. It is simple but has all what is needed for a backpacker stay: rooms are clean, bright and food is great - great chef taught us how to make coconut roti and coconut samble ;). The place is quiet which is nice in a city like Dambula (Tuk tuk from bus station should cost around 300 lkr). The host can help with safari to Kaudula arrangements.

Bargain price, great surroundings

Very friendly host. Will address all your needs. They will pick you up from the bus station or other arrival place. Eager to show you the city and can arrange a trip to Sigiryja Rock and Polonnaruwa for you. Beautiful surroundings. Roomsxwith private bathrooms.

Utilise the free pick-up and drop-off tuktuk offered by guesthouse

It's located in a quiet village with nothing much nearby and 3km from the main road so do contact the owner to arrange for free pick-up and drop-off from dambulla city centre, to save the 300rs tuktuk fee. Very cheap room in good condition with hot water shower. One night stay is enough in here. If you want cheaper tuktuk services for day trips to sirigiya etc do get them in town (plenty for u to negotiate with) rather than through the guesthouse :p

Lovely, cozy place with nice people in the middle of a wonderful garden! Really enjoyed it!

The staff and management is very friendly and helpful. The rooms were subpar but clean enough. No aircon which was fine but no hot water either. The showers were non functional and no buckets were provided till requested. The property is isolated and tough to find. However for the price and for someone seeking a secluded no frills stay with kind and helpful staff I recommend the hotel.
