Sapphire Anniversary

We were celebrating our sapphire wedding anniversary the hotel gave us a very warm welcome we booked dinner for 2 nights in the restaurant staff are so friendly and helpful the courtyard was really pleasant to sit out in and enjoy the beautiful grounds considering the weather we have had everywhere looked well maintained and very pleasant to walk around the grounds the spa and pool are a must pool is not deep but is warm clean and well maintained. The hotel is clean friendly staff delicious meals but a change of menu for those staying more than one night maybe an idea to change we had a delicious dessert made for us for our anniversary from the hotel lovely touch thank you and a card and box of chocolate’s in our room on arrival thank you again we will return again

Very poor

Very poor service. Poor standard of cleanliness. Problems with facilities. Disrespectful staff. The actual hotel that you stay in is not the building pictured - its an ugly, poorly maintained, motel-like building attached. Woken up in the night by noise.
The hotel is close to the town, which is where we spent most of our time.

Not what it once was

This hotel has really really done down hill, having booked a suite the room was quite a good size, it came at a price, but that's ok, accept the room was very dated, and tatty in places, it was very clean though, but just not up to luxury hotel prices we were being charged. The dinning experience was not good, the restaurant smelt very damp ( I am being kind here, its smelt of "drains" ) the menu was limited nd the food was poor quality. The service could not have been better though. Breakfast was simply terrible, having booked a suite which did come at a price, we were told breakfast was not included - ok, we will pay as we go then. £25 per head for probably the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. The food was not only, not good, it was literally poor cheap quality products, the orange juice had clearly not been part of an orange for a very long time, if ever, the scrambled eggs were cold yellow fluff that had no taste of egg at all, and i have to presume was made from some sort of power, it was not egg. The bread was the cheapest poor quality budget supermarket bread you can imagine, the croissants were rock solid stale - none of it was edible, shocking for the money - this hotel needs to do much much better if it is to survive

1 night stay

I stayed in a double deluxe room above reception, but be warned if you have room 12, then you will be able to hear the reception ambient music all day until 22:30. My experience was as below:
Gym: Really good for a hotel gym. Plenty of cardio machines, half a dozen weight machines inc cable machine, and 2-30kg dumbbells. Nice looking pool as well.
Bar and restaurant: thought both were pretty good. Food reasonably priced except the bread basket starter at £8. It was supposed to be selection of breads, but in reality it was 2 slices of bloomer. The chicken dish main was fine.
Breakfast: included in my rate, and like others have said things come at extra cost, ie cappuccino is £4 extra.
Car Park: Has 4-6 EV chargers. Had to pay £7 a night parking, which is disappointing when I’d spent £180 for a nights stay.
Overall a decent stay, some grumbles above, but slept well which is the point.

Restaurant is terrible

The biggest issue we had was with the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. The service was terrible, the evening food was very expensive for what we got and the portions were very small.
The breakfast was very over priced, was cold and didn't taste nice at all. It cost £24 a head which is the price of an evening meal but I f I wanted something like avacoado on toast instead of a full breakfast then I had to pay an extra £5 which I thought was digraceful. Really?? Is £24 not enough already? The service was terrible on both mornings. I had to chase staff to get an order taken or to find out when my coffe would be arriving. We were just forgotten and left both days. The food had obviously been hanging around the kitchen for a long time. The mushroom was like rubber, the beans all dried up...just nasty! The brown sause was so watered down it had no taste at all.
