Winner of Dulles Hotels by Default Due to Location

Well, if nothing, the location is good. Located just a few minute drive from Dulles International Airport, there is a free shuttle that operates between the airport and hotel every 15 minutes starting at 0430(am). The lobby of the hotel is pretty standard, and there is a small lounge off the lobby. The lounge food was nothing impressive, but not bad however there is no alcohol served in the lounge. We are on floor “1,” which was actually below the lobby. Annoyingly, as you can see from my photos, after we came out of the elevator they are essentially two wings, one of the wings – which happened to be the hallway our room was down – requires that you go up a flight of stairs. Mind you, we had six pieces of very heavy luggage. We eventually made it to our dated and expectedly unimpressive room, after which point I went back to the front desk to complain. They did apologize and offered to change our room, but considering that would have required us to move our luggage, we declined. It turns out there is a back ramp through the service side of the elevator and service elevators that we could use, but as this is technically in the employee only areas no one mentioned this nor offered. Anyone with mobility issues could not have stayed in this wing. Shame on this hotel for not warning people or at least asking if they are able to get to the room (or offer to help with luggage). Also, as you can see from the photos, the common areas are dated and in pretty sad condition. Gym and the pool appeared to be well maintained. As mentioned, the room was nothing special, but the bed was comfortable. Due to our early flight the next morning we did enjoy the proximity to the airport, and if you have an early flight then this airport will probably do the trick, but for the price they are charging they should do better. I smell a major renovation needed.

Unsatisfactory stay.

Upon arrival the rooms my family and I had requested with views on the quieter side of the hotel were not allocated to us. We were given rooms on the louder side of the hotel. My parents are in their 80's and were flying out the following day so it was important for us to be on the quieter side of the hotel. This hotel offers conferences and banquets and can be very noisy on the other side. The receptionist looked for availability on the side of the hotel that we had originally requested. We were not able to have a room with a King bed and so we had to accept 2 rooms with 2 beds. We used 2 credit cards, one for each room. We were not told which room to use for which card. Firstly, one of the rooms was next to the elevator, not good for my parents, so they took the room that was the farthest away from the elevator. Also, buyer beware, the first floor rooms have zero view of the lake. Our rooms looked out onto tall and overgrown bushes and trees. My family were flying home the next day and my husband and I were staying an additional night. After leaving the hotel for a few hours, upon return we found that our room keys were deactivated with all of our belongings inside. We then discovered that the room for the 2 night stay was in fact the other room that our family stayed in. What a mess. Reception had to re-activate our room keys again to give us access. Key staff members who assisted us that weekend were Nicole and Josh and our thanks goes to them. However the only compensation we received from the hotel to apologize for the miscommunication and handling of our issues was some free points that amount to about $40 in value. On the restaurant side, food and our wait staff were amazing. They were a bright light in what was otherwise a completely stressful and unsatisfactory stay. My observation for travelers who need an airport shuttle - there are other hotels just a few miles from this location who provide an airport shuttle for guests and these hotels are rated higher. We'll be staying with them next time and our family would recommend you do too.

Barely a Hilton

No foam pillows. Only feather pillows
You’ll find yourself sitting in the outdated poor excuse of a restaurant/bar bar and not receiving any service worth a hoot for hours on end and have plenty of time to talk. Do not go if you are hungry or thirsty and especially if english is your only language. They hardly can communicate.
Otherwise, you can come visit me while I'm in line at the gift shop trying to get a bottle of water and the machine doesn't work and she can't make a transaction

Very loud in all hallways. Be sure to have a loud sound machine!!!
And this Diamond member was told by the front desk to go to the vending machine to get some water?!?!?!
This is not our first stay at this property. Blame it on poor memory and as a Lifetime Diamond member I stay at so many properties it’s hard to keep them all straight. The hhonors app will only let you “like” a stay. There is no opportunity to prevent rebooking at a non-favorite hotel.
This is definitely an “UNLIKE”

Total disappointment

This Marriott is not even close to Marriott standards. A damp motel renovated and given the name Marriott! Sorry but this hotel should not be associated with Marriott hotels! A tarnish to the brand.it doesn’t have the minimum stuff you find in a room-

They haven't released my hold. And it's now April 2nd. This is a regular thing with Marriott. Bear that in mind when you book here. They keep your money
