Lovely Victorian B&B with wonderful Host & staff

Lovely Victorian home turned B&B. Manager and staff were very welcoming and helpful! Extremely accommodating to all of our needs (I.e. gluten and dairy free options) all rooms were very nicely done according to the period. Very clean and comfortable beds. Very large rooms and many with suites. Delicious inroom strong coffee!
Great location overlooking the water… fun to see kiters and paraglides right out our window. Great for walking ‍♀️ as well along the coastline. Very easy 10 minute walk into Cook Street village with some excellent restaurants and local fresh fruit and vegetables grocery store! Short drive into Victoria. Would stay here again!!

Vintage vibe in every detail.

Wonderful stay in an authentic Canadian house built in 1912. Very friendly personnel and a soft vintage vibe created from lots of details. Attitude feels in every corner. The dining room has a wonderful view of the ocean and mountains on the US side of the bay.

Perfect location.

I booked a solo trip and loved staying here. The room was exceptional, the service outstanding (as was the breakfast) and the location stunning. The Beacon Hill Park was my favourite place with deer, birds, peacocks, turtles and squirrels roaming. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. The walks on the pebbly beach was fun but the photos I took and the scenery was first class.

Lovely spot but problematic management

Nice, historical building in beautiful neighbourhood. With the park across one street and the ocean across the other street, and coffee shops up Cook Street a short way, it is ideally located. However, it is an older building with very small bathrooms and very squeaky floors; be prepared.
The 3 star ranking is mostly due to the breakfast service (it is a B&B). Though I had ordered a vegetarian breakfast in advance they were clearly not prepared. The potatoes were fried in bacon fat and the first omelette I was served had a sausage in it. When I asked about this I was told the sausage was “vegetarian” but given the potatoes I highly doubt it. HINT: most people specifically asking for a vegetarian breakfast are not expecting sausage, regardless of its claimed content.

Customer Service Review

Whilst I did not actually stay at Dashwood Manor, I am giving it a 5 star review for customer service. ( however I do have friends who stayed there recently and highly recommended it, and also gave it a 5 star review).
I am visiting Vancouver with 2 others, 1 from USA, 1 from Europe and we decided to go over to Vancouver Island for a couple of days.
Whilst trying to coordinate accommodation and sea plane bookings for 3 people, I inadvertently booked Dashwood Manor for the same day I was online and not for the 4 days ahead that I actually intended to.
I did not realize my mistake until I was back online several hours later, (by then 3 hours after their office closed) and I got a welcome email from them for that same evening. I immediately phoned, left a message and emailed explaining my mistake. I was offered a credit, valid for a year, but unfortunately everything was fully booked for the time we wanted a few days later. I explained that we are all from different countries, and the chances of getting together at a later date to visit again was remote.
As a very kind gesture of goodwill, and most certainly they were not obligated to, I was fully refunded.
I would also like to add that this happened at a really busy time of year, the week of Canada Day.
Kudos and heartfelt thanks to Iain at Dashwood Manor.
