Wonderful, friendly stay

We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Satsuki room. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming and they made me an amazing Vegan breakfast on both days. The traditional baths were most welcome at the end of a long day sightseeing!
Our private garden was beautiful and the beds very comfy too. They helped us prior to arrival with luggage delivery and arranged our luggage transfers when we left also.

Thank you for staying with us and for giving us the great review.
The breakfast menu at our inn is mainly vegetable-based. The bonito and kelp soup stock is basically seasoned, but we can accommodate vegan and vegetarian breakfasts if you let us know in advance if you have any allergies.
We are happy to ship and store your luggage so that you can enjoy your sightseeing with less luggage.
These are all small services, but we will do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
We look forward to next your stay!

Beautiful garden Ryokan in Kyoto

This is an amazing Ryokan with the most friendly, polite and kind staff. We had excellent service throughout our stay with some great recommendations for local restaurants.
We had the ground floor garden room with beautiful garden access which really made the room very special.
The breakfast is excellent and cooked by amazing lady to perfection.
We would really recommend staying at this Ryokan and enjoy a truly peaceful and relaxing stay in Kyoto.
Thank you to all the staff and we will return the next time we are in Kyoto.

Thank you for staying with us and for giving us the highest rating.
Even for guests who are not used to old Japanese buildings, our staff will provide detailed explanations about the building and how to spend time indoors during check-in.
Our inn only serves breakfast.
We will listen to your budget and what you want to eat, and then we will introduce restaurants for dinner and help you make reservations.
Breakfast is homemade by the owner.
The menu is made with mainly seasonal ingredients and vegetables, has a healthy flavor, and has a large selection, making it popular with guests.
We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed everything about our inn and were satisfied with it.
We look forward to next your stay!

The perfect honeymoon experience

The most peaceful and tranquil experience ever in a hotel for us, the staff were so friendly and accommodating to ensure we had the most relaxing and lovely stay, The breakfast was amazingly good and cooked to perfection, and the Honeymoon suite was stunning and comfortable. 10 out of 10 experience without a doubt.
We even got a wedding gift from the staff and we want to thank them for being so sweet and thoughtful.

Where do I begin!
Firstly the staff were wonderful and very kind, but this is where the positives end.
I guess if you are seeking a traditional Japanese experience then this maybe worth considering although the price seems disproportionately high given the quality of the room and facilities.
The main issue I had was the stairs in my room to ge from the living room to the bedroom, which are a problem if you have any mobility issues and it could be argued they are a border line Heath and Safety risk. I could not see any photos of the stairs for my room in the Hotel.com website
and felt there should have been some kind of warning well in advance of the booking re this room giving us the option to cancel.
We were forced to checkout after the first night of our 3 night stay because of this issue and pay for another hotel.
The owners refused to provide any form of compensation in the way of a refund despite numerous request.
I await Hotel.com response to this issue.

This was an absolutely unforgettable experience, and i cant recommend this ryokan more highly!
The house is over 100 years old, with a lot of original wood, glass and structure, but modernised to provide comforts like heating/air conditioning, modern toilets and bathrooms and coffee machine. The architecture of it has even placed it in some books about Ryokans. Staff speak excellent English, making it easy for non-Japanese speakers. Yoshiko showed us around and explained how everything works. We felt very welcomed by everyone here, and our stay was truly wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and extravagant, very traditional and they delivered it to our room.
The gardens are beautiful, looking mystical with lots of moss and small trees.
I will mention that the walkway to the bathroom and toilet is an open air walkway (there is a roof and walls, just one side of the walkway is open and faces the garden), so in the winter it may be cold - so bring warm comfy clothes!
There is a lovely library room, where you can have tea snd sweets, and mingle with other guests. This is a really beautiful house, historic and authentic. I will never forget my stay here and the welcoming warmth of everyone we met!
