Extraordinary Hotel
This is hotel is truly extraordinary. Set right in the center of Valletta, you cannot ask for a better location. As soon as you open its doors you feel the tranquility of this perfect hotel. A renovated palace, meticulously maintained, it’s the perfect spot to explore Malta. Our suite was spacious, with a comfortable king size bed, two renovated batrooms, and a separate living area, perfect for an extended stay. Staff was attentive and helpful in every way. A special mention to Sandra, whose recommendations were right on point. Her help in securing tours and restaurant reservations were invaluable. Last but not least, the hotel’s restaurant L’Ancora must be visited. There are many great options in Valletta, but this one is highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location with excellent staff
This is a very beautiful hotel, in a former Palazzo and, in a superb location. You are minutes from Upper Barraka gardens (the lift), Triton fountain (bus station) and on Republica, so easy to access all main sites and enjoy ‘passegiata’. Staff are friendly, professional and helpful. All of the staff on reception were great. They recommend places to go, provide helpful info and sort out anything you need.
We had a very large room at first but were not happy with the lack of natural light (overlooking reception), or the very small shower. It was however, quiet ( with a separate entrance through the restaurant). As we were booked for 7 nights, such an internal room would have left me feeling very depressed. Maria was superb and organised us a switch after 3 nights, once other rooms were available. She selected a room that was perfect for us on the 4th floor, with a bath. It totally changed how we felt. It was a lovely room. Comfortable bed, great linen, good nespresso machine. We spent most days out but were always grateful to come back to the coolness and tranquility of the hotel. The inner courtyard and the roof terrace are lovely.
For location and service this is a clear 5 star. My only criticism is that breakfast can be a bit hit and miss ( wrong orders received, orders not understood, terrible avocado and eggs one day, toast barely toasted, overcooked bacon another, staff arriving late and grumpy one morning ). We did not discover they had ‘Greek bread and rolls’ til last day, despite having asked early in stay ‘do you have any different bread?’ Espresso and a glass of Prosecco were always good! Saurab stood out as a great member of staff, always smiling. I haven’t dropped a star for the breakfasts because everything else is superb however, breakfast could be so much better.
The hotel is perfect if you want to visit the sites and learn about the history and culture of Malta, rather than have a beach holiday. As it got hotter, we started to realise that sometimes you need a hotel with a pool - but we hadn’t gone for that kind of holiday!
Best trip was the small boat to the three cities. we also loved Mdina and Rabat. Best discovery nearby, was Farina (2 mins from hotel) where Gennaro’s nephew serves delicious food.

The bes ever
My wife and I have been traveling the world for 60 years. Without a doubt, this hotel is the best experience. The staff, from the manager to the maids, were efficient, courteous, and incredibly helpful. When we checked out, the manager himself helped us take our luggage to the Uber, some blocks from the hotel.
The breakfasts were perfectly prepared and we were always greeted by name.

Simply lovely.
Overall a quaint establishment in a superior location with exemplary staff/team; all very friendly, customer focused and approachable.
General manager lead by example. Maul was very helpful throughout our stay and offered lots of information and outlined tour options to suit our time in Valletta.
A thank you to Maria who was also extremely helpful offering some excellent suggestions for eating out and the obligatory coffee!!
