Best gateway to Jotunheimen

First time at Fossheim - definitely not the last. Excellent dining - super nice & very serviceminded staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Our room in the main building had great view to the mountains.
Will visit again at my next adventure in Jotunheimen

Fabulous place to stay.

This is a beautiful old hotel , beautifully decorated with original elements of the past. The room was cozy with a balcony and a sitting area. The breakfast was very good and dinner was well catered for and because we stayed 2 nights we were offered another menu. Cozy seats where you can enjoy the view with a G&T. The Staafkerk is definitely worth a visit. Much nicer than those near Bergen.

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY
The odour in the room and the totally outdated bathroom...Horrible disgrace, the enclosed pictures talks for themselves.
Taking a shower leaves the whole room wet, and it stays wet, as the ventilation is a joke.

Hello,
I'm very sorry to hear that your stay here at Fossheim was that bad.
Our bathrooms will be renovated this winter, so hopefully it will be better soon.
Also we had a problem with the ventilation, but this is now fixed.
I hope we can welcome you for a better experience some other time!
Best regards Heidrun

Steer away if you can!

Steer away if you can! There is cracking in the floor / ceiling and you can hear absolutely ALL from the floor above. You can hear talking when others go to the bathroom (you can also smell it inside the bathroom, as the smell of other rooms your bathroom sits in there). Nor had to be curtains there, as they were not lightproof. There was yellow coating on the sink in the bathroom. After driving for many hours and being tired, you want a good night’s sleep. You can't get this in this place!

Hei!
Beste helsing Heidrun

Historic family run hotel and restaurant

This hotel is authentic Norway and quite a gem. There are wonderful small log cabins in addition to the more traditional hotel rooms. This is an historic property visited by the Norwegian Royal family and it has a wonderful restaurant. The breakfast is good and the dinner is outstanding. Many of the summer wait staff are local or from other parts of Scandinavia. They are energetic and fun. If you want to visit real Norway, try this hotel run by the same family for 5 generations.
