Gem in Portugal

A beautiful, nice campsite with beautiful views. The pitches are not marked out and therefore you can set up your camping equipment as you want. And that creates a casual atmosphere. Lovely pool, nice terrace with bar and friendly people. Nice toilet block. In the Serra da Estrela are beautiful car and walking routes. In short: a return campsite!!

Expectations not met.

The campsite is for sale and it seems as if people don't have much love for it anymore. It is a bit messy everywhere, the grape bushes are not tied up, etc. The sanitary facilities are spotlessly clean! We were looking forward to the announced BBQ, but that was very disappointing because we thought: someone is making nice meat on the BBQ, but that was all done in the afternoon and was simply served on trays in the evening. Meat was of poor quality and the salad consisted of some endive leaves with a slice of tomato. People advertise the great cuisine with regional products... does not match our experience.
The campsite is beautiful, the village is not much, but very suitable for those seeking peace and quiet.

Busy but nice site

Unfortunately our booking coincided with a Dutch motorhome club so it was extremely busy, although the people were nice. Even though we were on motorcycles we were put up a high tier with a very slippery and uneven path ride up to it. Some motorhomes were also wheel spinning when driving up to the tier below us. The facilities were mainly good, although toilet paper run out on a couple of occasions. It was very hot weather but the swimming pool was empty of water. The food in the evening was lovely and lovely staff running the resteraunt. Nice location and within walking distance to the village. No on site shop so take what you need with you. We booked electricity but the tier we were on did not have electric & we didn't carry a long motorhome cable with us on motorbikes. Overall a nice site.

Unwelcoming staff and expensive

At arrival we met a lady that instantly looked at us up and down. Finished our sentences and charged us 19eur for 1 small tent and two person To camp in a backyard. The average in Portugal is 11 to 14eur for camping parks. besides this place is run and visited mostly by dutch.. and you dont feel the real portuguese hospitality.
We asked if we could borrow or rent a blanket because this is on the mountain and it gets Chill.. and we’ve been told that we should try first if we were cold...
Also the restaurant closes at 8:30.. in the daylight...
Bad experience. The general conditions were ok.

Lovely spot

We met friends here for two nights on our way through Portugal. We liked it so much we extended the trip.
Lovely views and large camping pitches. Very welcoming owner and very helpful.
Food is home cooked and under a nice terrace. Yoga and hot stone massages available at very reasonable prices.
From here we did a lake reservoir trip which was fantastic. And also a medical village trip.
