Amazing place and people

We stayed 3 nights at David's place and couldn't be happier! David has built a very nice place with nice houses and a great garden. It is still being expanded and we would like to see the result when everything is finished, because it will certainly be even better!
The room was very cozy and clean, it is also worth mentioning that the shower is the best (and hottest) we can remember having experienced in Africa. The food was delicious! Not to mention, David and the rest of the staff were wonderful hosts. David helped us with anything we needed. We can't help but recommend this place warmly, and wish David and his family all the best!

Great stay in David's Homestay

Very nice stay at David Crater Homestay. We had 3 nights there and it was an excellent experience. The rooms are quite big, the buildings are unique, the service for breakfast and dinner is very friendly and supporting with everything, the food is very good and much enough for good eaters. David is a very good guestfather, he is there for every question and we enjoyed very much to stay with him every evening on the woodfireplace with a lot of time to talk about everything.
If necessary, he can arrange good guided tours in the area of Lushoto/Usumbara. But, and this was for us really great, he don't refuse if someone wants to go alone (like the hike to the famous viewpoints Irente or Yogoi/Java). It's one of the rare places in Tanzania, where you can go without a guide.

Beautiful Natur and a very nice accommodation

We had three wonderful days in David's lodge. the rooms are very nice and you always have the smell of eucalyptus-wood (floor, bed, doors). His Family and the stuff is very friendly an helpfull.
Evening dinner costs $10 per person, but the food tastes wonderful and is worth the money.
David picked us up from the bus station when we arrived and organized our onward journey by bus and ferry to Zanzibar. everything worked perfectly!
With our guide Richard, we went on a guided hike to waterfalls and viewpoints through hidden hiking trails over two days and learned a lot about the healing effects of plants.
Thanks a lot for everything. Flo, Katrin, Sophia and Luis

Family accommodation with very helpful local owner

We had a great time at David's homestay in Lushoto in the Usambara Mountains of Tanzania at the end of our honeymoon. It is a small business run by David's family. Everyone was very helpful, arranging hikes, bus tickets and even putting the laundry in when it rained. David personally drove us to the bus stop early in the morning when our trip ended.

Simply perfect

David, thank you
... for your wonderful homestay. You have really created a little paradise for yourself. Just sitting there and watching monkeys steal bananas or chameleons climbing
... your wife's great dinner
... the breakfast to go for our very early onward journey
... the organization of our onward journey to Zanzibar. Bus booking, transfer to the ferry terminal, ferry tickets. Everything went like clockwork
We are already excited to see how your expansion plans are implemented. We are sure that many more guests will have a great time with you.
We were traveling with Richard in the Usambara Mountains.
Thank you very much Richard
... for taking us to such beautiful places as the Irente view point and the kisasa waterfall
... for knowing every little path in Lushoto, which makes the hikes very varied
... for the guacamole that you prepared for us for lunch
... for introducing us to the landscape and the rural life of the people
We will never forget our time in Tanzania. As is the case with beautiful things, they unfortunately pass far too quickly.

Very good location
