Room with a view
My husband and I had a fantastic weekend here, the rooms are gorgeous, we had a balcony with the most spectacular view. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough to help us. My two brothers in law came to meet us one of the mornings and I asked if they could join us for breakfast (they were not guests at the hotel) and the maitre d could not have done anymore to accommodate us and made sure we had an excellent table with a view, thank you!

Afternoon tea
We went to the Petersham for afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday and everything was perfect! The views from the restaurant over the Thames are spectacular. All the details were spot on, lovely crockery, delicious food, friendly and attentive staff. We would definitely revisit. Beautiful hotel, stunning views and great food and service. Can’t ask for more than that.

Beautiful hotel with a few small issues
Pros: Beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean, very helpful reception staff. Breakfast was excellent with a beautiful view.
Cons: Our room was lovely, but hot and we struggled to sleep. We were woken at approx 6.30 am on a Saturday morning when the cleaning staff got equipment out of the cupboard, located near our room, very loudly. The host at breakfast was very brusque, verging on rude, totally unnecessary when we were friendly.
I’d recommend that we all remember to be kind and friendly to each other, no matter what our accent sounds like.

So sad changed our memories of this hotel
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past usually for special occasions like an anniversary or my husbands retirement so with our silver anniversary looming next month we decided to push the boat out and booked a one night stay on 2nd June for the penthouse suite for a sum of £488 plus 3.75% discretionary service charge including breakfast not exactly cheap for a Monday night. We made the booking a week ago. On Saturday, my husband, as a surprise, telephoned the hotel and asked for a further night to be added on Tuesday 3rd of June which is actually our anniversary. He was told that an email would follow with confirmation. By Monday night this had not arrived so I emailed asking for the invoice. It took a further two hours to arrive but when it did our first night had been cancelled and the new invoice for two nights had both nights increased to £503 per night plus the discretionary charge. There was no explanation or apology. I was so incensed that I immediately emailed again asking what was going on and cancelling the whole stay. I immediately got a reply confirming the cancellation, nothing else just the cancellation. Out of interest I went back into the site and saw that the two nights we had previously booked were now being offered at £525 per night plus the discretionary service charge. Talk about profiteering! Needless to say we will never use this hotel again

Anniversary celebration
My wife and I stayed at the Petersham Hotel last week, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, 43 years after we spent our wedding night at the hotel. I still had the bill from all those years ago with the room number on it. I requested that we could have the same room and the staff kindly ensured that our ‘old’ room was kept available for us.
We had a wonderful stay and the staff could not have done more make our stay feel very special.
Our suite was very comfortable with lovely views at the front of the building looking towards the water meadows along the Thames.
We enjoyed an excellent breakfast in the comfortable dinning room again enjoying the wonderful views of the river.
We so appreciated the staffs’ acknowledgement that this was a special occasion for my wife and I and everything they did to make us feel so welcome and comfortable.
We enjoyed the exceptional environment and the excellent service we received at the Petersham
