Exceptional in every way

I went to relax, rejuvenate and have some fun. Parking was convenient. Check-in was informative and friendly. The lobby is so welcoming and my room was perfect! The location is close to everything. The in house restaurant was delicious. I lucked out and had a balcony and beautiful sunny weather - loved my stay!

Such a lovely hotel in the best little town!

What a gem! We went to Yellow Springs on a whim overnight and this hotel was perfect. Super, super clean, comfortable and within walking distance to all of the shops, the brewery and eateries and a minute's drive from the amazing parks nearby.

Will go again

Great hospitality and accomodations. Good breakfast and service. Very convenient to access the shops, restaurants and surrounding area parks and trails. And was surprised, most of the shops were open on Monday. Would highly recommend an extended stay.

Untrained staff and hostile owner

This historic building has a separate, and wonderful restaurant in its lobby. I was not aware that these businesses were separate until recently and unfortunately learned the hard way on two separate holiday occasions. The interactions were awkward to say the least, with the front desk and management of the inn. I brought my disabled child, and parents who didn't want to be seated in a crowded room at separate tables, nor did they want to eat on paper plates. When we tried to get a refund, the event planner was very rude and refused. I politely requested to speak to a manager and the building owner came out, waved his hands in our faces shouting for us to "get out now". We were in shock. To make it worse, his staff was laughing at us and shouted "happy easter!" as we walked off the premise and told to never come back. We never did get to speak to a manager or anyone who seemed trained in hospitality. This confusing experience upset my son and broke our spirits for the remainder of the Easter day. Why anyone would behave the way the owner to older people and a child is beyond me. I truly hope other guests have a better experience and that the staff was reacting due to temporary stress. Please note that the inn and the restaurant are not affiliated, which I did not understand when I purchased brunch tickets, and hotel stay. In hindsight, I suspect this is a point of tension, and had I been aware from the website or staff, perhaps would have understood better what was going on.

We debated whether to respond to your review at all, but for the sake of our staff we felt it necessary.
Your behavior during our Easter Brunch was nothing short of combative, entitled, and inappropriate. You arrived with more guests than tickets, demanded special treatment, and when politely told no, you escalated to threats and legal posturing. Spoiler alert: “I’ll call my attorney” isn’t a golden ticket to bypass cancellation policies, especially when it's delivered with the kind of theatrical bravado that suggests it’s not your first time weaponizing that line.
You were not “disrespected”—you were simply told “no,” and judging by your reaction, that’s a word you’re unfamiliar with. We’re deeply grateful to our staff for handling the situation with patience and restraint.. A hotel is not a courtroom, and our front desk is not your deposition.
As for your review: calling our hotel a “dumpy place” while praising the restaurant inside the exact same building is a fascinating contradiction. We’re not sure if this was an oversight or just another example of your curious approach to logic. Either way, we’ll pass your compliments to the Ellie's team, who, like the rest of us, will be relieved to know they won’t have to serve you again.
To be crystal clear: you are permanently banned from Mills Park Hotel. This decision is not up for debate, appeal, or—dare we say it—legal negotiation. Our responsibility is first and foremost to the safety and dignity of our team, and we take that seriously.
We wish you the very best in finding future accommodations—preferably ones that allow for shared tables, six-person parties on four tickets, and a flair for courtroom dramatics. We, however, will not be part of your next performance.
