Great Place to Stay in Hanoi

Perfume, the owner puts this place over the top. She is the sweetest host I have ever encountered at any lodging. She genuinely cares about her guests.
Rooms are adequate but not particularly fancy. Meals are excellent. Perfume provides tours and onward travel arrangements at unbeatable pricing. Book through her, not through some online operation with no customer service.

Horror, absolutely harmful to health, rip-off

Due to the nice welcome, I find it difficult to write such a review. But since this accommodation is a serious health hazard, attention must be drawn to it.
I have already visited many countries in the world, including very poor developing countries.
But that night and that room was by far the worst thing I've ever experienced in travel.
I booked 2 rooms through booking, the pictures clearly show the illustration of clean rooms. Dirt alone wouldn't even be bad. I'm counting on that and I can handle it.
We arrived quite late and were in a bit of a hurry as our departure was imminent the next day.
Perfume welcomed us warmly and asked if we would take instead of the booked two rooms, an apartment with separate sleeping areas. Only with a shared bathroom. As a father and daughter, no problem. She led us to the back, which was then no longer called “Hanoi Family Homestay”, but “Perfume’s Cozy House”. We put our things down for a short time to get going straight away because we still had booked appointments. Then I thought, oh some mold and assumed that the rest is flaked plaster. In short, I didn't look around and left the room.
We came back to our room quite late and I wanted to lie down.
Even the bed cushion was moldy. The bed linen was clammy and dirty. The upper room was absolutely moldy as was the bathroom.
I got scratched in my throat and watery eyes. It smelled beastly, the room, the linen. Not to think about sleep.
However, I am much more concerned that my lung diseased father may have suffered damage from these mold spores. I wish the operator that this is not the case.
Stay away from this homestay. I'm absolutely not petty, but this is a health hazard.
Maybe the actual homestay was overbooked, because only now I have read various reviews also under Perfumes Cozy House that this happened to several guests. Already in 2023... so this pestilent room will be merrily rented out.
It's a pity that apparently greedy lust counts for more than humanity. Even a nice welcome won't do me any good if I suffer any damage.
The coffee that Perfume's daughter was supposed to give us for departure, whatever we didn't accept. Maybe as a gift because of her guilty conscience?!
Photos of the invoice are also photographed: for this room, of course, the same price was charged as for the two rooms I booked through booking. 70€ a cheek. Actually, you should get pain money. A room for 2 people in Perfume’s Cozy House costs only 35€ when booking.
The transfer to the airport by her brother the following day we have cancanceled. Take a grave, it costs 260,000 VND instead of 380,000.
Normally I like to pay these few euros more, but this is an absolute extreme case. We just wanted to leave and left for the airport clearly early to catch our breath. Horror, rip-off, bust. It's a shame we experienced this on our last night.

Arrived and staff was very friendly. However the room we booked was not the room we got. We were taken into another building through a back door and an alley. We think it was a sister business potentially (Perfume Cozy House was the name of the building we were taken in to. We booked a city view and got a room that had no view at all the window looked at a concrete wall, the bathroom looked nothing like the photos and there was a lot of electrical wires poking out of the walls. The room was very dark and damp. I understand Vietnam is humid and they don’t run the AC constantly however when we checked in the floors and bedding was damp. We ended up checking out early and staying at another location. The staff was very sorry for the mix up and started the refund process right away. They offered us another room but we had already made other arrangements. Be cautious when booking as you may not get the room or even the building you thought you were going to get.

A place you want to return to!

HUGE RECOMMENDATION FROM HER.
The appetite for kindness and helpfulness must be long sought. The owner of this place made us feel taken care of on a whole new level, and when we had lost a phone she helped us get it back through the local police. We felt far from “just as guests” but rather as her friends from the second we walked in the door.
You will not regret to book this place!

Perfume makes the Homestay a wonderful experience

I arrived stressed from a trip to Cat Ba and due to the weekend celebrations couldn’t be dropped off at my new accommodation
I arrived at the Home stay and Perfume had organised my room and wanted to cook for me.
I instantly felt relaxed.
The next day she changed my room to one with a balcony and courtyard, which was lovely.
The fruit at breakfast was yum and I had eggs too.
The next evening Perfume & Stella ( from my previous hotel) organised a dinner for the solo women travellers, so we could support and talk together. It was a lovely evening.
Perfume then organised my flights & taxi and accommodation to Hoi An.
Perfume went above and beyond and it made my stay very special. A bit like Perfume who just cannot do enough
Can’t thank her enough
