An excellent central base for travelling to Dortmund, Dusseldorf and Cologne. Hotel was decent and had a nice breakfast.

Our room was next to a door that split the hallway. This door made a lot of noise when it closed. We were woken up multiple times in the night because of people opening and closing the door. Needs something so that the door closes more slowly/quietly. Windows weren't well insulated so lot of noise from outside as well. Breakfast area was not big enough for the amount of people. Was chaotic. Would not stay here again.

I am not satisfied to the follwing :
I could not use cooler box because it is browken and I aked hotel to repair it but it was not prepared. also, I struggled to keep privacy because there is no tag which show privacy or keeing clean roon.

I would like to make a complaint regarding my stay at this hotel. And quite frankly, I would like to request a refund of my money.
I got to this hotel on Friday. Upon getting to the reception, the receptionist told me they didn't have any suite left and the only suite they have left was a smokers suite. And that if I couldn't take that, that I sadly couldn't stay at the hotel. I decided to stay in the smokers suite because I had no other options. I had travelled all the way from Munich to Essen and had no other choice but to stay the night in Essen.
Anyway, I have attached some pictures of the room I stayed in to this email. The room was quite frankly disgusting. The floors had all sorts of dirt on it. The walls also had some marking as if some kinda drug addicts had lived there.

Our recent stay at the Holiday Inn in Essen was very disappointing. The hotel desperately needs an upgrade. We booked a room for two but were given one set of amenities. When we asked about the second set, we were told it was in the closet. All we found was an extra blanket, which was useless in the 34-degree heat with no air conditioning. We needed another set of towels!
Moreover, the bathroom trash can hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests and was filled with bloody tissues. This level of cleanliness is unacceptable. The staff noted our complaints at check-out, but that doesn't excuse the poor experience. We won't be staying here again. Next time, we'll find somewhere else.
